Video telematics pioneers SmartWitness have launched a full service live monitoring system called SmartGuard that provides complete cover for fleets 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The premium system provides full-service monitoring of all live video cameras and telematics for all fleet sizes and alerts managers in the event of an emergency.  The SmartGuard call centre team is manned 24 hours a day and monitors all your fleet and only contacts fleet managers in the event of an emergency.

The benefits of the system are:

  • Improvement of Driver Performance
  • Reduction of Costs – reduced accidents, lower premiums, better fuel efficiency
  • Better Risk Management – instant FNOL and crisis management
  • Pro-Active Intervention Against Bogus Third Party Claims
  • Operational Overhead Savings
  • It frees up valuable Fleet Managers’ time by doing all the checking for them.

The Smart Guard platform captures, processes and stores high-definition video footage enhanced with telematics data. It is completely hardware agnostic and is compatible with any device capable of transmitting data – whether existing telematics systems or in-vehicle cameras.

The data received is analysed using complex algorithms to present meaningful management information which is displayed in a series of user-friendly dashboards, alerts and reports. Driving risk is then reduced by offering qualified driver behaviour analysis which in turn reduces potential liability for the fleet, insurance costs and offers better protection for your drivers and brand.

The SmartGuard system is fully scale-able and flexible so that you can switch which vehicles have the cover, and increase and decrease the number of vehicles covered quickly and at low cost.

SmartWitness Founder and CEO Paul Singh said: “Vehicle cameras that are not monitored do have an initial impact on driver behaviour but after a short space of time this reverts to “default” setting as operatives become used to having a camera in their vehicle. Monitored cameras ensure that standards are continually met and that problems and being fed back in real time.

“The other main benefit to monitoring is complete peace of mind for fleet managers who know that any time 24/7 if there is a serious incident it will be dealt with immediately and that driver safety and insurance FNOL will be sorted.”

The SmartGuard system was first piloted by several major haulage companies but is now been rolled out to the whole of the UK in May 2018.

It gives fleet managers peace of mind. They know that someone is watching over their fleet and drivers at all times of the day.

“To have staff paid to monitor your fleet 24/7 would be extortionately expensive but that’s precisely what our SmartGuard team will do for a small monthly fee.

Paul Singh added: “Fleet management never stops and whenever you have vehicles on the road your company has to be responsible for them, and that’s not just a basic duty of care, it’s also laid down in the Corporate Manslaughter Act 2008.

“But with big fleets you need to be able to filter out the huge amount of telematics data. There are alerts and notifications going at all times of the day, and with SmartGuard we make sense of the data,  and if incidents do arise they are dealt with immediately whenever they occur.

“The SmartGuard system can be made available to all or just a section of your fleet. If, for example, you regularly have night-shift drivers and don’t want to have a fleet manager on call throughout the night, you can switch over to SmartGuard to be your eyes and ears when you are away from the office. “

The SmartGuard system is compatible with any camera or telematics system which is capable of transmitting data and it can be set up easily in a matter of hours and is GDPR ready. There are flexible contract terms so it can be set up for short or long-term contracts.
