The International Road Transport Union (IRU) is co-operating with a major new EU-supported digital goods transport platform – AEOLIX.networks-world-map-transport-efficiency

AEOLIX synchronises logistics across multiple transport modes to share services, reduce costs, cut CO₂ emissions, increase transparency, cut down border delays and improve road safety.

AEOLIX works by establishing data exchange between a wide variety of information systems used in the transport and logistics industry. This ensures maximum visibility and streamlined communication throughout the supply chain. IRU’s global membership across 100 countries and all five continents will lead the way for the universal endorsement of the project.

Zeljko Jeftic, Head – Global Innovation at IRU, said, “AEOLIX demonstrates how digitalisation is an essential requisite for modern global transport systems to become safer, kinder to the environment and streamlined. For example, by digitising transport documents such as waybills and connecting that information through automated emergency call systems faster, more targeted help can be directed to road traffic accidents.”

He continued, However, technology will not be able to solve all existing barriers; we also need European Member States to allow for digital transport, by removing existing policy barriers and by adopting electronic CMR Protocol by the UNECE.”

IRU Projects is an official partner for the project, which brings together 33 different companies and organisations from across Europe and will run for the next 3 years.
