One of Northern Ireland’s best known haulage companies have warned that spiralling fuel prices is threatening the future of the road haulage industry.
Mulgrew Haulage says its fuel costs have spiralled by 14 per cent since 2008, and has warned that companies may soon be forced to increase their prices for customers in order to stay in business.
Dermot Mulgrew, Managing Director of Mulgrew Haulage, said an under-charging policy by fellow companies is a daily threat to their business. “The threat of under-charging is always there, and it’s there more than ever now.”
“You can either take the decision that you’re going to work below cost or not. And at the minute we are not prepared to do that.”
