The International Road Transport Union (IRU) is organising a series of seminars that will discuss actions that will ensure the availability of skilled drivers, therefore contributing to the sustainable development of road transport.
The DRIVEN project also offers a standardised training programme to strengthen instructors’ technical knowledge, methodological approach and teaching skills to provide maximum success in the IRU Academy’s Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Driver training.
The DRIVEN programme which is co-funded by the European Commission was developed as a response to an urgent need to establish high quality training to ensure sufficient offer and avoid a shortfall of qualified drivers which would be a major impediment to recovering EU economies.
The IRU Academy works along three axis to provide high quality periodic training to drivers across Europe:
o Harmonised instructor training, which aims to deliver not only comprehensive technical knowledge, but also the necessary adult learning skills for efficient and flexible course delivery.
o Specialised courses, which are focused on specific topics, covered in more details.
o A European Instructor Network, to encourage sharing of knowledge and best practices among road transport instructors, so as to contribute to the alignment of standards and mutual recognition of training certificates.
