Foreign HGV drivers working in the UK should have to pass a driving test in Britain, before taking up employment. That’s the view of three sons, who lost their parents in a horror smash in 2008.
Kenneth Davies, 79, and his wife Daisy, 77, from Welshpool, Powys, died in April 2008 when a HGV driven by a Hungarian national cut across their path.
The driver was given a suspended jail term after he admitted causing death by careless driving.
The sons have launched a campaign for foreigners driving lorries in Britain to have to pass a UK driving test. They believe the move would reduce the risk of accidents involving foreign drivers.
Their campaign has already attracted almost 1,000 signatures to date.

Hi
We have been subjected to the foreign lorry sideswipe in 50mph motorway roadworks. Is it not possible to change the law so that left hand drive HGVs are not allowed to change lanes on dual carriageways unless directed to do so or at road splits? Not a perfect solution but safer and gives right hand drive HGVs a competitive edge.
