European News:

Haulage industry boost

September 12, 2009

The haulage industry got a shot in the arm this week, with the introduction of Driver CPC legislation, which lowers the legal age at which a person can acquire a LGV licence.

The legal age has been lowered from 21 to 18, which should attract drivers into the industry at a younger age.

Under the old system, haulage operators claimed that young, talented potential entrants were lost to the profession because they had to wait until they were 21 to get their licence. By that age, many had already settled in others careers, and were lost to the profession.
