European News:

Road closure on A1

September 10, 2010

The southbound carriageway of the A1 in North Yorkshire will be closed overnight this weekend to allow the Highways Agency to complete bridge demolition works, as part of the motorway upgrade scheme between Dishforth and Leeming.

The carriageway will be closed between Leases Hall and Leeming Bar from 6pm on Saturday 11 September until 10am on Sunday 12 September, for the demolition of Leases Bridge.

During the closure, clearly-signed diversion routes will be in place. Long-distance traffic will leave the A1(M) at Junction 60, near Darlington, and use the A689, A19 and A168 before re-joining the A1(M) at Junction 49 (Dishforth). An alternative route will be in place for local traffic.

Road users are advised to plan in advance and allow extra time for their journeys. Up to date traffic information is available online at www.highways.gov.uk/traffic, through the Traffic Radio digital service, or on 0300 123 5000.
