The Romanian government is poised to beef up fines for rogue hauliers that breach their driving hours and other road transport regulations.
The move comes following a spate of serious accidents involving Romanian HGV drivers, at home and a cross Europe.
HGV drivers who violate the regulations will be fined of up to €1, 400. More substantial fines up to €4,100 will be applied to drivers with dodgy tachographs.
