Road users are advised that two abnormal loads are due to be travelling through part of Hampshire this week.
The two transformers will be travelling on Saturday 31 July and Sunday 1 August, between Bramley Sub Station, Hampshire, and Southampton Docks.
The first transformer is expected to leave Bramley Sub Station at 9.30am on Saturday 31 July 2010 and arrive at Southampton Docks at 2.30pm the same day.
The second transformer is due to leave Southampton Docks at 9.30am on Sunday 1 August 2010 and arrive at Bramley Sub Station at 2.30pm the same day. The loads are being moved when traffic flows are lower to reduce disruption to drivers.
The route the first transformer will take will be an unclassified road, Minchens Lane, The Street, Silchester Road, Boars Bridge, Bramley Road, Aldermaston Road, A340, A339, M3, M27, M271, A33, Redbridge Road, unclassified road, First Avenue to site.
The second transformer will take the same route, in the opposite direction. Each load will be fully escorted to ensure safe passage.
Each load with the trailer weighs 222 tonnes. The total length of the load, including the tractors is 65.4 metres; the width is 5.02 metres and the height is 4.605 metres.
