Volvo’s bodyshop boost

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Volvo’s bodyshop capability has been boosted with the formal appointment of Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London, Milton Keynes Dealerpoint as the designated bodyshop for truck, bus and trailer repairs in Volvo’s London region, the busiest in the country.

The Milton Keynes Dealerpoint now includes two dedicated bodyshop bays in addition to its twelve service bays which are used for regular maintenance work.

Brian Mills, Volvo’s Dealerpoint Manager for Milton Keynes outlined theposition, “We have nominated individuals, our bodyshop champions, at all ten of Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London’s Dealerpoints. They are responsible for assessing vehicles for repair and liaising with the central bodyshop here in Milton Keynes. It is more effective and efficient to operate as a centre of excellence here in Milton Keynes than set up and run bodyshop and repair facilities at numerous sites around the Capital.”

Since the London Region’s bodyshop services were concentrated in Milton Keynes, at the end of last year, Brian was pleased to report that business was ahead of target in its first full month of operation.

The full range of crash repairs and rectification work that can be carriedout at the Milton Keynes site includes cab straightening, panel beating, fabrication and specialised aluminium welding.

Brian will be adding to the services with a mobile repair facility in the near future. “At present vehicles are recovered here to Milton Keynes to be repaired. In some cases it could be more practical and convenient for the customer if we were able to provide a repair closer to their base. In this case we would send out our repairers to the nearest Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London Dealerpoint and effect the repairs there” said Brian.

A programme of establishing contact with insurers to gain accreditation and status as a preferred supplier is also under way.
