European News:

Back to basics

March 3, 2010

Brigade Electronics has produced a training DVD in collaboration with TNT to take drivers back to basics.

The DVD explains the benefits of reversing camera systems, while enforcing the importance of normal driving practices such as using mirrors.

Operators were reporting growing cases of nearside damage caused by reversing vehicles because drivers were only using their rear view camera and failing to check their mirrors. Brigade’s Director of Marketing, Tom Brett explains: “Camera monitor systems are excellent visual aides but do not replace mirrors and normal driving precautions. The driver training DVD may sound like we are trying to teach drivers to suck eggs but the content has been requested by our customers because their drivers are using the technology instead of, rather than in addition to, checking mirrors.”

The training DVD shows a TNT driver during a normal delivery, with advice for best practice when driving a vehicle that needs to reverse and tips for using Brigade’s reversing camera system. It is an excellent addition to health and safety inductions, with the visual aspect making the message clearer than the usual routine literature.

TNT’s Operations Training – Team Leader, Dave Copping says: “The DVD will further enhance the practical training already given to TNT’s drivers ensuring that they use the camera as an aid and not a replacement for the vehicles mirrors”

Brigade plans to develop a series of training DVDs to help customers to better understand their products, providing ultimate safety for drivers and pedestrians. To view the TNT training video or other video case studies visit www.brigade-electronics.com
